Ben Thompson

Date of birth

180 cm

Midfielder Ben has progressed through the junior ranks at The Den to the senior squad and crowned his first full season winning both the Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season honours.

Ben got his big chance in August 2014, making his senior debut in the Capital One Cup tie against Southampton and his tenacious displays in the middle of the park were rewarded towards the end of the 2014/15 season when he so nearly made his League debut for The Lions.

There were just 10 minutes remaining in the final game of the campaign at Wolves when Ben was stripped and waiting to come on as a sub. However an injury to fellow youngster Jamie Philpot, just eight minutes after entering the fray for his debut, handed another Academy graduate - striker Alfie Pavey - the chance, and Ben put his tracksuit back on before taking his place on the bench.

The livewire midfielder was, however, handed a new contract just one week later and having made his full debut in a 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe in August 2015, went on to make 37 appearances in total, scoring two goals. The second of which, a 20-yard volley against Shrewsbury, won the fans' vote as the Goal of the Season.

Thompson made 47 appearances in 2016/17 as Millwall won the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs.
