James Brown made his senior Lions debut in the 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Gillingham in October 2016.
The right-back, who captained The Lions' Under 23s team, spent part of 2017/18 on loan at Carlisle United for league football experience, and enjoyed further loan spells at Livingston and promotion-winning Lincoln City.
James will now be looking to establish himself as a regular in the first-team at The Den during the 2019/20 campaign.
