Scott Fitzgerald - Academy Director

Scott has played an integral role in the recent successes of Millwall’s young players and the attainment of Category 2 Status. As a player he had spells with Wimbledon, Millwall and Colchester United. Following retirement as a player with Brentford in 2005, Scott began his career in coaching, heading the youth teams firstly at Griffin Park and then Gillingham. He had a spell as a first team manager at Brentford during the 2006/7 season before joining Millwall’s Academy set-up soon after.

Kenny Brown - Head of Coaching

Kenny is a former professional footballer who represented Norwich City, Millwall, Birmingham City and Reading, amongst others, during a distinguished playing career. He has also managed Barry Town and was Director of Football at Spanish side CD Javea. He holds the UEFA Pro licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award. He is now beginning his four season as Head of Coaching at Millwall FC.

Alex Stefanakis – Head of Sports Science and Medicine

Alex joined the club from Colchester United midway through the 2018/19 season, where he was their Under 23 Head Physio. Alex has a bachelors degree in physiotherapy, a diploma in manual therapy treatment, and is currently studying an MSc in exercise and sports medicine.

Barry Dunn – Head of Recruitment and Talent ID

As Head of Recruitment and Talent ID, Barry is responsible for overseeing the identification of players for the future of Millwall. He has been at the club since 2011 having previously worked at Fulham.

Paul Tighe – Head of Education

The 2019/20 campaign is Paul’s second full season with The Lions as Head of Education, after joining from a Premier League club. A former teacher, he brings a wealth of experience and will continue to oversee the college programme for scholars and the schoolboy day release programme.

Chris Perry – Lead Under 18s Coach

Chris is a vastly experienced former professional footballer who played for AFC Wimbledon, Spurs, Southampton and Charlton Athletic. The 2019/20 season will be the start of Chris’s fourth full year with the club as Under 18 Head coach. Chris holds the UEFA A Licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award.

Larry McAvoy – Lead Under 18 Coach

Larry has worked within the Millwall FC Academy for over a decade, graduating from the Under 9s to his current role as Under 18 Head Coach. Larry holds the UEFA A licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award.

Murray Jones – Lead Phase Under 15-16

Murray is a former professional footballer who is also a vastly experienced coach. His previous clubs include Crystal Palace, Brighton, Fulham and Reading. Murray holds the UEFA A Licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award.

Dan Mlinar – Lead Phase Under 13-14

This season will see Dan take The Lions' Under 15s. Dan has now been full-time with the Academy for four seasons, after previously managing the Millwall Lionesses during the 2015/16 season. He holds the UEFA A Licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award.

Paul Palmer - Lead Phase Under 9-11

Having worked at the club for almost a decade, Paul knows Millwall inside out. He joined the Academy full-time in 2012 to head up the foundation phase. Paul currently holds a UEFA A license and the Advanced Youth Award. This season will also see Paul responsible for the recruitment of Under Eight to Under 12 players.

Darren Stern – Lead Sports Scientist

Darren joined Millwall from Brentford three seasons ago to lead the Academy sports science department. He graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in sport and exercise science, and an MSc in strength and conditioning. Darren’s area of expertise is understanding how to optimise a players athletic development to reach their full physical potential.

Sam Percival – Lead Video Analyst

Sam is starting his second full season with Millwall after previously holding the same Academy role at Crystal Palace. Sam graduated from the University of Portsmouth with an MSc in sports performance.

Tom O’Neil – Under 18 Physio

Tom is a chartered physiotherapist and is starting his second season with the Academy, primarily looking after the medical needs of the Under 18 players. Tom also has experience with working with elite athletes on the world and European stage.

Glyn Shimell – Lead GK Coach

Glyn is starting his second season at Millwall as Lead Academy GK coach after joining from Bromley, where he held the same role for six seasons. A former AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper, Glyn holds the UEFA GK B Licence and UEFA Advanced Youth Award.
