Bio
Ryan Leonard initially joined Millwall on loan until January 2019, where he has since completed a club-record undisclosed fee move to The Lions from Sheffield United.
A long-term target and former teammate of Neil Harris', the central midfielder made his professional debut in March 2010 at Plymouth Argyle - the club whose youth ranks he rose through - as they took on Blackpool at Home Park.
Ryan then moved on a free transfer to Southend United, where he spent seven years and made over 250 appearances, becoming a firm fans' favourite and attracting interest from clubs in divisions above The Shrimpers.
The midfielder signed for The Blades for a undisclosed fee in January 2018, but was captured by Harris and Millwall on Deadline Day in August 2018. Ryan had been a regular in the middle of the park under Harris, making 37 League appearances and scoring on two occasions. In 2019/20, Leonard scored a Goal of the Season contender in a 1-0 victory at struggling Hull City.
However, Leonard has shown his versatility and ability to operate wherever asked under Gary Rowett, having excelled at right-back, right-wing-back, attacking midfield and centre-back in addition to his usual position.
The utility man frustratingly found his opportunities limited due to injury in 2021/22, but Leonard's popularity rose in 21 appearances for Gary Rowett's side.
