The manager previews Baggies visit

Gary Rowett is expecting a "tough test" from West Bromwich Albion at The Den on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions welcome The Baggies to The Den in the Sky Bet Championship (kick-off 3pm), with both clubs currently attempting to dig their way out of a dip in form.

The visitors have won just once in their last six Championship outings, whilst Millwall are looking to end a run of three consecutive single-goal defeats in the League.

Speaking to millwallfc.co.uk, the manager previewed the visit of The Hawthorns' outfit by saying: “This season, when we’ve been the underdogs heading into a game, we’ve played really well. You look at the Bournemouth game and it was night here at The Den where we really put a promotion-chasing team on the back-foot, and we were unfortunate not to come away with all three points.

“West Brom again will be another very tough test, but the response from the players has been fabulous. We’ve been a bit unlucky with some recent results, but the players know exactly what they need to do if we’re to get a result on Saturday.”

After defeat at Bloomfield Road, The Lions return to SE16 for four out of the next five matches.

“The fans can make a difference. We’ve seen in previous games like the FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace, when this place is rocking it can be a difficult ground to come to as an opposition player. We’ve got a lot of home games coming up in the next few weeks and the fans can really give us that extra boost.”

Oliver Burke, The Lions’ latest recruit, made his debut from the bench last weekend against The Tangerines and displayed glimpses of his capabilities.

“Burkey has really impressed me in training since arriving at the club. He adds something different to the attacking line-up, especially with Jed out injured. He’s got a lot of pace and power, which is a great addition.

“He can make a really good impact, I’m not expecting him to beat his man every single time, but he will be able to get us up the field quickly and pose a threat on the counter-attack.”
