Millwall Football Club can confirm that striker Matt Smith has signed for Salford City on a free transfer.

The striker joins the League Two side in pursuit of more regular first-team football, which the club respects.

Smith had a brilliant impact at the club from his arrival from Queens Park Rangers in 2019 - making over 100 appearances and scoring 22 goals in all competitions during a two-and-a-half year stay at The Den.

The 2019/20 season saw the 32-year-old finish as the club's top goalscorer, with a last-minute goal against Charlton Athletic, as well as a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest, some of the standout moments.

Everyone at Millwall would like to thank Matt for his outstanding efforts whist with The Lions and wish him all the very best for the future.
