Under 23s suffer defeat

Our report from Calmont Road...

29 April 2022

Millwall's Under 23s were defeated 3-2 by 10-man Colchester United at Calmont Road in the Professional Development League on Friday afternoon.

After a flat first-half, the game exploded into life after the break, with The U's taking the lead from the penalty spot on 50 minutes as Jake Hutchinson sent Jordan Gillmore the wrong way.

However, that lead was to last just one minute as half-time substitute George Walker's cross was deflected in, with Colchester captain Frankie Terry recieving a second booking in the build-up as he brought down Jayden Davis.

The Lions then took the lead in style as Sean O'Brien controlled Abdul Abdulmalik's pass before striking into the top corner, but the visitors levelled as Samson Tovide lobbed Gillmore from outside the area, before Colchester won the game two minutes from time as Hutchinson poked into the top corner.

Next up for Millwall's Under 23s is their final game of the season - against Sheffield Wednesday at The Den - on Tuesday afternoon. Tickets are on sale here, whilst you can also found out how to stream the game on Recast here.
