Olaofe makes Wembley appearance

Sutton fall agonisingly short of trophy win...

4 April 2022

Sutton United's attempt to win a historic Papa John's Trophy title fell short by 90 seconds at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gander Green Lane outfit were 2-1 up against Rotherham United in the showpiece occasion five-and-a-half minutes into seven of stoppage-time, only for Jordi Osei-Tutu to strike and force extra-time.

The Millers, with former Lion Shane Ferguson on the left-hand side, then ran away with the fixture in the 30 minutes to win 4-2. Isaac Olaofe was a 67th-minute substitute for Donovan Wilson.

Joe Wright's time at Cray Wanderers, meanwhile, is at an end due to an injury sustained in his last game. The goalkeeper has returned to Calmont Road for treatment.

Elsewhere, both Alex Mitchell and Dan Moss were missing from the Leyton Orient squad which defeated Walsall 2-0 away from home on Saturday afternoon.
