Kevin Nugent summarised Friday's crazy South London derby when speaking to millwallfc.co.uk.
The Lions' Under 23s were defeated 2-1 by Charlton Athletic in the Professional Development League at Sparrows Lane, with The Addicks finishing the game with nine man, whilst Millwall ended with 10 after Arthur Penney was shown a straight red card.
Tyrese Briscoe scored three minutes into stoppage-time to set up a frantic finale, but the Under 23s have now lost every away game in 2021/22 - in stark contrast to their home form, in which they have won four out of four.
"It was a very eventful game," Nugent said. "I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded. They go down to 10 men early on, then they go 1-0 up, so the game changes. We changed personnel and changed shape to try and get back into things and created enough chances to do so, but unfortunately, we couldn't quite just do it.
"Overall, I'm disappointed - the lads will have to learn from that. We've got a 100% home record, but a negative 100% away record. That says it all.
"Them going down to 10 men early on doesn't mean you have to adapt straight away. We kept plugging away, but also made sure we weren't going to concede as well. We ended up changing the gameplan, but then Arthur gets sent off, so that goes out the window.
"It was an end-to-end game, so we could've got something out of it, maybe even nicked it at the end."
