Northern Irish duo in international action

Two defeats for the Green & White Army...

14 October 2021

Northern Ireland's hopes of a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup were ended during October's international break.

The Green and White Army suffered two losses on the road, 2-0 in Switzerland and 2-1 in Bulgaria, to leave them nine points from a Play-Off place in Group C with two matches remaining.

Daniel Ballard featured in both fixtures for Ian Baraclough's men, being withdrawn in the 86th minute at the Vasil Levski National Stadium, whilst George Saville played the full game in Geneva before missing the trip to Bulgaria.

Northern Ireland have two qualification fixtures left to play, both in November's international break and both at Windsor Park, against Lithuania and Italy.
