Olaofe nets on historic day for Sutton

The penultimate edition of Loan Watch...

Sutton United won the Vanarama National League title on Sunday afternoon by defeating Hartlepool United 3-0 at Gander Green Lane - and clinched a first-ever promotion to the EFL in the process.

Rob Milson, Louis John and Millwall's very own Isaac Olaofe hit the target and The U's saw off their opponents to claim the trophy with one match to spare.

With the score at 2-0, Olaofe shrugged off his marker and struck across goal to put the cherry on the cake and net his 16th goal in all competitions since joining the club.

The champions will now finish their campaign at Barnet this weekend.

Alex Mitchell, meanwhile, played 82 minutes as Bromley kept up their pursuit of the Play-Off places with a last-gasp 3-2 victory at Aldershot Town.

Michael Cheek gave The Ravens a first-half lead, but then four goals in a crazy final 18 minutes ended with Joe Kizzi netting a late, late winner after Harry Panayiotou's double sandwiched a James Alabi strike.

With one match remaining, Bromley are level on points with Chesterfield, who currently occupy the final Play-Off place. The Ravens welcome Notts County - who are already assured of a place in the end-of-season lottery - to Kent this weekend, whilst The Spireites travel to FC Halifax Town, who can overtake both clubs and claim the final place if results go their way.

There was joy for two of The Lions' other loanees - and outgoing squad members - last weekend, as Sam Skeffington was voted as Barnet's Man of the Match in a 2-2 draw against second-placed Torquay United, in which The Bees rescued a point from 2-0 down, whilst James Brown played the final 11 minutes at Hampden Park as Callum Davidson's St Johnstone outfit completed a Cup double by defeating Hibernian 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Final.
