Kevin Nugent summarised Friday's 3-2 victory over Colchester United when speaking to millwallfc.co.uk.
Goals from Arthur Penney, Tyler Burey (pen) and Sean O'Brien gave The Lions three Professional Development League points at Wallace Binder, despite two late Colchester goals.
"It was lovely to get three points on the board after a period of time of not getting them," Nugent said on a first win in nine matches. "The lads performed well in the first-half, but then Colchester pushed us back and we found ourselves under the cosh a bit. However, we managed to hang on and get the win, which is pleasing.
"Whenever [a potential comeback] happens, the team doing it always manages to gain a bit of momentum, but I thought we hung in there and got a few blocks in etc. Although, I don't want to see us getting in that position in the first place."
Next up for the Under 23s is a trip to Bristol City on Tuesday - and the boss is hoping to build on the success over The U's against The Robins.
"It'll be a tough game against Bristol City, and that'll be three games in 10 days for the lads, which they're not used to. It'll be interesting to see how they go with that."
