Kevin Nugent praised his "fantastic" Under 23s side despite a 2-0 Professional Development League defeat to Swansea City on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions' sticky run continued with a smash-and-grab loss at Calmont Road, but despite that, the Under 23s produced an incredibly dominant display, only to find a brick wall in front of them in the Swansea defence.
"The performance, individually and collectively, was fantastic today," Nugent told millwallfc.co.uk. "Sometimes you don't get what you deserve, and in recent games I don't think we've put in performances that have deserved results, but today, we deserved to get all three points.
"Their goalkeeper was far and away their Man of the Match, he was pulling off saves all over the place. If I could be critical on anything, it would be our set-pieces - I don't think they were delivered with enough conviction. We had a few free headers but didn't look as though we wanted to score them enough."
The Under 23s run without a win now stretches to seven matches, but Nugent explained how he saw signs of improvement in Tuesday's game.
"It's just one of those days. We're getting into positions, creating chances and getting them on target, I'm not sure there's much more we can do with them. The performance level was back to where I know we can be, though."
