Millwall Football Club is proud to once again support Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action.
Level Playing Field is a registered sports charity in England and Wales who act as an advisory organisation for disabled sports fans, and their efforts are focusing on removing barriers for disabled supporters in all sports.
Level Playing Field's 'Weeks of Action' is currently undertaking its 17th campaign, which takes place between Saturday 27th February and Sunday 14th March – The Lions' designated match of awareness being this Saturday's Sky Bet Championship meeting with Blackburn Rovers.
Level Playing Field have come up with a number of ways to help fans feel connected to the game during these unprecedented times.
‘Talking Sport’ is a new initiative set-up by Level Playing Field to help support disabled fans affected by COVID-19.
As people look to return to some form of normality in their lives, the pandemic has continued to affect disabled people more than most. Disabled people have stated that their well-being has been affected by feeling lonely and isolated during the COVID pandemic according to Office For National Statistics.
Through ‘Talking Sport’, Level Playing Field, a charity dedicated to working alongside the Disabled Supporters Association, is inviting any disabled Millwall fans with a passion for the club who are feeling lonely, overwhelmed, or just bored to get in contact to talk all things Millwall.
The club encourages disabled fans affected by COVID-19 to get in contact with Level Playing Field via email at email@example.com, to arrange a phone/video call.
Match of the Day… before
Every Monday, Level Playing Field are inviting all fans to get together (virtually) and talk about the weekend's biggest talking points.
Level Playing Field staff spend some time in the morning discussing the weekend's sporting action from across the leagues. From 10am, until supporters are back in the stands, LPF are inviting all to join them for an hour to discuss the action from VAR, outstanding goals, dodgy referee decisions and all the latest transfer speculation.
The Level Playing Field Podcast
The Level Playing Field podcast is available to stream on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify.
In a monthly series, Level Playing Field will explore the barriers of watching live sport, focussing on disability. The podcast will bring a variety of voices from all over the sporting community to discuss a variety of disability subject matters.
The club encourages fans to get involved with the initiatives and is proud to work alongside LPF to raise awareness and promote good access for all in the hope this encourages more disabled supporters to watch and soon be able to attend live games.
