Gary Rowett is committed to making sure his whole squad are ready for the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign - and is prepared to welcome fans back into stadiums for Millwall's next two pre-season friendlies.
The Lions take on Gillingham on Tuesday night (kick-off 7pm) and Ipswich Town this Saturday (kick-off 3pm) in front of supporters, without restrictions, for the first time since March 2020, and when speaking to millwallfc.co.uk after last weekend's friendly against Arsenal, the manager previewed the return of fans.
"Pre-season is all about giving players the opportunity to show what they can do, building their fitness, building some of those playing principles which are really important and then hoping that as the weeks progress, they come together more as a team.
"You still have to give everyone those minutes and make sure the whole squad is ready. We've got two games now - with fans there - with a slightly different type of atmosphere and ones that are more close to a Championship type of game. We're looking forward to them."
