The future is bright at Millwall Football Club - and Kevin Nugent is one of the driving forces behind that success.
After steering The Lions' Under 23s to the Professional Development League title in 2019/20, names such as Danny McNamara, Isaac Olaofe and Alex Mitchell enjoyed successful loans to continue their development - with the former stepping up to the first-team and Olaofe firing Sutton United to the Vanarama National League title.
The next to try their hand on a temporary basis elsewhere is Hayden Muller, who will spend the 2021/22 campaign at Scottish Premier League outfit St Johnstone - the very place where McNamara flourished.
"Hopefully that will be a very productive loan," Nugent told millwallfc.co.uk. "We've had Danny there previously - he's been on loan a few times, but playing up there in that shape, and with Callum [Davidson] as manager, it's worked tremendously well.
"Hayden has huge potential, he's been involved with the first-team and has a lot of plus points. Hopefully that will work out well."
Billy Mitchell and Tyler Burey are just two of the other names to bridge the gap between the Under 23s and the first-team in recent times, and Nugent claimed that the chance to make the step up has never been more fruitful.
"You can really see opportunity for the younger players coming through here now. Whether that means going out on loan, training with the first-team or just getting minutes here and there, there's a real opportunity for these lads. They've got to grasp that and move upwards."
