Congratulations to Edward Bryant, who has been named as Millwall's 'Above & Beyond' supporter for June 2021!
Edward was born nine weeks premature with a condition called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC).
ACC is a rare disorder that is present at birth. It is characterized by a partial or complete absence (agenesis) of an area of the brain that connects the two cerebral hemispheres.
Even though Edward suffers from the condition, he is still very much a normal little boy. You would not know he has had surgery unless you felt his head or if he had recently had a haircut, as his scar runs from one side to the other.
Even though he had a very tough start to life, Edward has always been confident in everything he does and understands charity and the reason behind it. Chris, Edward's father, was a member of the British Army for 10 years, serving in the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. Whilst on an operational tour of Afghanistan, he lost a good friend who was unfortunately killed in an IED strike. In his memory, his wife set up a charity called Scotty's Little Soldiers, which raises money to buy holiday homes for bereaved families to visit when times are tough, alongside other times such as Christmas, birthdays and Easter.
The charity was one that Prince Harry chose as one he wished to recieve donations for at his wedding and is slowly being recognised as one of the top military charities. In November 2020, a charity run called 'November To Remember', in which young people walked or ran five miles over the space of the month, saw Edward take part. In setting up a donation page, a low target of £150 was set, but that had been reached within a couple of hours. After Edward took sponsorship forms to school and his family spoke to all their work colleagues and friends, over £2,000 was raised.
Edward and his friends completed the walk and he has now told his father that he would like to do something for the charity again, but further and harder, as the challenge was 'too easy' and he wants to raise more money for the charity.

On behalf of everyone associated with Millwall, thank you for everything you do, Edward!
