Millwall's Mason Bennett has teamed up with Show Racism The Red Card to deliver an educational workshop to a Lewisham school.
On Tuesday, The Lions' attacker joined 82 pupils from Year 5 to answer questions, following on from watching a flagship educational film featuring some of football’s biggest stars discussing their experiences with racism.
After the film, the pupils took part in a workshop that included a ‘culture shock’ activity, designed to break down stereotypes and misconceptions; they also learnt what to do if they witness or experience racism.
On Wednesday, another workshop will be delivered, this time to 70 pupils from Year 6.
"As a club we are determined to continue to be at the forefront of football’s efforts to rid the sport of discrimination, and a key part of this drive is to enhance what are already strong relations with the excellent team at Show Racism The Red Card," said Steve Kavanagh, Millwall's CEO.
"The work they do is absolutely crucial and fundamental to what is a key and shared objective for the industry – to remove this abhorrent element from the game we all love."
Show Racism The Red Card’s Paul Hill added: "We are really excited to be working with Millwall Football Club over two days delivering our virtual 'Fans of the Future' anti-racism workshop to 150 pupils across years 5 and 6 at Stillness Primary School. Mason Bennett was brilliant in our Q&A and had some wise words for everyone!
"It is imperative we keep working together to safely challenge racism and Millwall Football Club are at the forefront with us educating our fans of the future."
