Today's Line-Up

18 December 2021

Introducing today's line-up for Demelza...

1. On Christmas Eve 2020, Demelza Registered Nurse Lottie supported Zoe and Darren to bring their baby girl home so Darcey could spend her last precious days there. Wonderfully, Darcey had her first Christmas with her family and Lottie continues to support them with vital care at home. #FestiveWishes

2. Oakley was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome when he was two-years-old. This is a genetic disorder that primarily affects the nervous system. Demelza provide care at home for Oakley, where he feels most comfortable. You can read his story here.

3. Hallie has osteopetrosis, a rare and life-limiting genetic condition that can result in bone fractures, restricted height, frequent infections, sight loss and hearing impairment. Hallie loves visiting Demelza for respite care and also enjoyed taking part in the Demelza Choir this year.

4. Olivia was just 17 months when she was diagnosed with a massive, inoperable brain tumour which caused her to lose her vision. She loves nothing more than taking a splash in Demelza’s hydro pool with little sister Imogen.

5. Meet Sarah, who is one of the Registered Nurses at Demelza’s hospice in Eltham, South East London, providing expert and compassionate care to children with serious or terminal conditions.

8. Meet Vicky, mum to Olivia and Luke. They access services at Demelza and this is what she had to say about it: “Demelza means everything to us – it’s so important to have their support.”

9. Nurse Tanya is a soloist on Demelza’s #FallOnMe #ChristmasAppeal track. She said: “The best part of my job is being able to have the special one-to-one time with a child. I enjoy getting to know the child behind the disability or condition. Music is universal and I love how children respond to it; no matter how complex their care needs are.”

10. Dedicated volunteer Lucy has supported Demelza in a number of roles both at our hospice in Eltham and at our shops: “At the start of the pandemic I was furloughed and heard the shop needed volunteers. It was amazing how so many people came forward to support us by dropping off donations and spending in the shop.”

11. Freddie is an incredible big brother to Ralph, who uses Demelza Services. Earlier this year, he took on Demelza’s Miles in May challenge to raise an amazing £1,661. What an superb achievement for a six-year-old!
