While the clubs will be facing off as rivals on the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship season, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall are uniting off the pitch in support of an intrepid TV legend this summer.
Soccer Saturday hero Jeff Stelling will be marching across the country for Prostate Cancer UK for a fourth time later this month - and he’ll be paying a visit to both the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium and The Den on his journey.
QPR and Millwall have partnered with the leading men’s health charity for the 2021/22 season, pledging their support in the fight against the most common cancer in men, and both clubs will welcome long-serving Sky Sports presenter Stelling on the final leg of his fourth March for Men event.
Stelling has raised more than £1m for the leading men’s health charity walking across the UK in 2016, 2017 and 2019 and this year he will be taking on four walking marathons in four regions, starting in the North East on 30th August, heading to Yorkshire on the 31st, before marching through Merseyside on 1st September.
His March for Men finishes in London on 4th September, where he’ll kick off the day at the home of Millwall, The Den, before heading to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium serves as Jeff’s penultimate stop before the finale at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
His aim? To fund lifesaving research to improve testing, treatments and care for those affected by the most common cancer in men.
Jeff said: “Covid has had a horrific impact on lives across the UK, but prostate cancer has not gone away. In fact it’s now more important than ever that we support men and their loved ones.
“One in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. I deal in stats, but that one still shocks me. This is our Dads, partners, brothers, grandads, uncles and friends.
“QPR and Millwall have been terrific supporters of both me and Prostate Cancer UK over the years, so I’m looking forward to paying another visit to two fantastic clubs.”
