Millwall Football Club can confirm that supporters who purchased an iFollow Match Pass for last Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie away to Crawley Town will receive a full refund.
The club, along with Millwall Supporters’ Club, has been in discussion with the EFL since technical issues affecting the live stream left fans unable to watch the majority of the first-half at The People’s Pension Stadium.
In light of the extent of what was a unique issue, it was the club’s view – and that of the MSC – that only a full refund would suffice and both parties are satisfied that Lions supporters will be compensated correctly.
The club was immensely frustrated by the outage during Saturday’s stream and the impact such issues have on the reputation of its iFollow service. During these unprecedented and financially challenging times it remains a vitally important revenue stream and goes some way to offsetting the significant monies lost by playing matches behind-closed-doors. Please note that during the upcoming 2020/21 campaign Millwall will receive 100% of the revenue from Match Pass purchases which will be crucial to its ongoing operations.
Most importantly, however, iFollow provides Lions fans with an opportunity to continue to watch their team home and away and the club hopes that Saturday’s issue doesn’t deter any supporter from purchasing Match Passes or subscriptions in the future such is the positive impact both on and off the pitch.
