Kevin Nugent claimed that Millwall Under 23s' victory over Coventry City was "deserved" after The Lions won 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
Nana Boateng struck a 77th-minute winner as Nugent's side claimed three Professional Development League points, and the boss expressed his thoughts on the afternoon to millwallfc.co.uk.
"There was a good reaction after our last defeat [against Charlton]," he said. "I thought we played really well in the first-half, but our end product in and around the box and in the final third needed to be a bit more clinical, as well as our decision-making.
"In the second-half, the game became a lot more open and we conceded too many chances. But, the players showed spirit, with a goal-line clearance and shots blocked.
"I was pleased with the overall performance, and then to get the goal, with Bes [Topalloj], George [Alexander] and Nana showing some bright thinking, was great. It was a hard-fought victory, but overall, probably deserved."
Nugent will be without the services of Reuben Duncan for the next month after the midfielder moved on loan to Welling United, but he hopes the youngster will benefit from first-team football at Park View Road.
"Reuben has gone on loan to Welling - it will be a good opportunity for him. Hopefully he'll get some game time and he does well."
