Kevin Nugent explained how there were "lots of positives" to take from Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Cardiff City.
Alex Mitchell and Sean O'Brien found the net as Millwall's Under 23s secured three Professional Development League points against The Bluebirds - and the boss praised his team's reaction after losing to Wigan Athletic on home turf last week.
"We didn't perform as well as we could've last week, so the reaction today was really good," he told millwallfc.co.uk. "I was impressed with the performance, particularly in the first-half. Sean O'Brien was left out the team last week but then comes in and scores a goal like that - that's exactly the kind of reaction I was looking for.
"We could've had a few more goals, especially in the first-half - you're always wary at 1-0. But we changed the shape at the end and Junior [Tiensia] also got 30 minutes, so there's a lot of positives to take. A few of the young lads/scholars came up and performed well, too."
Centre-half Alex Mitchell turned home the opening goal from close range following a set-piece, whilst O'Brien hit a fantastic half-volley in the second-half to double Millwall's lead.
"We've been saying we want to score more from set-pieces, we've underachieved with those recently. Whilst the goal wasn't from a set-piece, Alex stayed in there and finished it off. Sean's goal was outstanding - from the build-up to the finish."
