As we continue the new season in lockdown, Level Playing Field are looking at ways to offer support to disabled supporters in England and Wales.
LPF have already begun to engage with disabled fans one-on-one with its ‘Talking Sport’ initiative, allowing people to know that having the opportunity to simply chat about sport with someone can have a hugely positive effect on personal and mental wellbeing.
This has led to the launch of 'Match of the Day... Before' on 9th November.
Starting from Monday at 10am, LPF are inviting all disabled supporters to join them online for an hour to discuss the weekend's football action - from outstanding goals to dodgy refereeing decisions and VAR controversies. They will be holding this as a weekly event on Zoom, and will be sending out the Zoom link via social media. Supporters can also email firstname.lastname@example.org for information on how to join.
If you enjoy debating all the latest footballing hot topics, then this is for you. It's also an opportunity to meet and engage with other supporters, particularly whilst in lockdown. It’s not the same as having a chat about the offside rule with a pie in hand in the concourse, but it’s the next best thing.
