Millwall boss and players to help fans become a part of history

Lions squad to cover the cost of the first 600 Crowdies

16 June 2020

Millwall manager Gary Rowett and his players are helping to give Lions fans the chance to be involved in a historical few weeks at The Den.

With the club’s remaining fixtures in 2019/20 being played behind closed doors because of the COVID-19 crisis, The Lions are launching ‘Crowdies’ and giving supporters the opportunity to personalise a cutout of themselves which will be installed at The Den and stay in place for the five home matches left to play.

And as a thank you to fans, boss Rowett and his first team squad have volunteered to pay for the Crowdies of the first 600 fans who purchase!

“For some time now the players have been thinking of ways to show their appreciation for fans at what is clearly an unprecedented and challenging time,” Rowett said.

“Our supporters are such a key part of everything we’re trying to achieve and it is so disappointing for them and us that they can’t be present at The Den for the rest of the campaign.

“We don’t yet know what the start of next season will be like so the players wanted to do whatever they could now to show their gratitude to fans for their continued backing and loyalty, and it was decided that this initiative will hopefully go some way to helping supporters feel part of matchdays even if they can’t be there in person.

“It’s not something we would normally consider but these are not normal times. The players have spoken at length with the club about ways to create an environment which minimises the impact of having no crowd as much as possible and they felt this was one method of making The Den appear a little bit closer to what it normally does. We want to give the players the best possible chance of succeeding so are backing them in any way we can.

“I’m sure we will all look back at these past few months in years to come and remember what an enormous impact the crisis had not just on sport but in society in general, and having your own Crowdie at The Den will be one way of owning your own little piece of history.”

Simply click here and follow the simple steps to secure your Crowdie.

The cost is £25 per Crowdie for all five remaining games at The Den. Should you be one of the first 600 to buy then you will be contacted by Crowdies by email with the money then refunded back to you.

All Crowdies will be installed in the lower tier of the Dockers Stand.

Please ensure you order yours by Wednesday 17th June in order for it to be in place for the game against Derby County the following Saturday.

Supporters will be allowed to keep their cutout once the season is complete and the club will announce further details about how and when they can be collected once safe to do so.
