Jake Cooper pens new long-term deal

Defender extends his stay at the club...

13 June 2020

Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce that Jake Cooper has signed a new long-term contract at The Den.

The defender, who has scored 14 goals in 151 appearances since his arrival from Reading in January 2017, will now remain an integral part of The Lions' set-up for years to come.

The 25-year-old provides a towering figure at both ends of the pitch for Gary Rowett's side and will hope to add to his solitary goal of the season - at Bristol City - between now and the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign.

Cooper initially joined Millwall on a loan deal, but impressed enough to be offered permanent terms in the summer of 2017 as the club won the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium.

From there, the number five has gone on to become a mainstay in the back four, and has played every single minute of over the last 100 Sky Bet Championship matches. He enjoyed his richest season in front of goal to date in 2018/19, scoring seven times.

Stay with for all the reaction from Cooper himself and Lions boss Gary Rowett.
