"It's the best group of lads that I've ever worked with" - that's the view of Matt Smith after Millwall's 3-1 New Year's Day victory over Luton Town.
The striker assisted Tom Bradshaw's ninth goal of the season to get Gary Rowett's side back on level terms after falling behind to Sonny Bradley's first-half opener, but after Connor Mahoney's individual piece of magic to give The Lions the lead in the televised Sky Bet Championship game, Smith then notched his sixth strike of the campaign to secure all three points.
"It's the best group of lads I've ever worked with," he told millwallfc.co.uk after the three points had been wrapped up. "I've been in The Championship for eight years now and these are the best group of lads I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
"I think that takes us a long way. We're a resillient bunch, an honest bunch and we work hard for each other. When the message at half-time comes (Millwall were 1-0 down at the break) to stick together and we go and do that [in the second-half], I think that speaks volumes for our team spirit."
