Larry McAvoy and Chris Perry have had the job of tempering expectation levels and nerves this week - but the Under 18s joint-managers are looking forward to a "big" encounter with Chelsea on Thursday night.

The Lions take on The Blues in the FA Youth Cup Quarter-Finals at Stamford Bridge (kick-off 7pm), and told of the work that has gone on behind-the-scenes to make sure the squad - flying high in the League - are fully prepared for the trip to West London.

Millwall's Under 18s will be backed by 1,000 fans as they look for a place in the final four of the competition.

"Preparations are going really well," McAvoy explained. "We've watched a lot of Chelsea's games, so we know what we're up against - we know their strengths but we also know there are some weaknesses there to exploit.

"What an occasion it is for the boys. This will probably be the only occasion most of them will get to play at Stamford Bridge in their careers. It's going to be big, but we're trying to play it down a bit - we don't want them to get too nervous before kick-off."
