Jake Cooper hasn't missed a single second of Millwall's Sky Bet Championship action over the course of the last two seasons and beyond - and puts it down to "a real hunger" for competition.
The defender has played the full set of an incredible 122 League matches and counting, and in speaking to millwallfc.co.uk on the club's pre-season training trip to Scotland, he explained how he keeps himself in shape to compete game after game.
The Lions returned to pre-season training last week after a short break, and are currently training in Edinburgh until the weekend.
"It was nice to get a few weeks with the family after the busy period we had at the end of last season," Cooper said. "It was nice to give the body a break, but it's nice to be back in and see everyone again, as well as welcoming Troy [Parrott]. It's been a good week and we're looking forward to the season starting."
On the outstanding run of appearances, the 25-year-old added: "I just look after myself well and train the best I can. I've got a real hunger to keep getting out there and be a part of the team, and keep producing good performances and good results. Hopefully that continues."
With the beginning of the 2020/21 Sky Bet Championship campaign just a few weeks away and the end of the 2019/20 season just a month in the past, fitness levels are key - and Cooper stated that due to lack in any lengthy break, The Lions are almost ready to go.
"You've got to give great credit to the club to organise something even with what is going on, and to get away with the guys and spend time with the coaching staff. The short break meant we didn't lose too much fitness, and it didn't feel like we were gone for too long.
"We've got straight back into things and it feels like we haven't had to build up our fitness as we maybe would when you've had seven or eight weeks off."
