Millwall's Under 23s suffered a first home defeat of the 2019/20 Professional Development League season on Tuesday afternoon as Queens Park Rangers won 3-0 at Calmont Road.
Kevin Nugent included Luke Steele, Jason McCarthy and Jiri Skalak in his starting XI as The Lions looked to continue their fine home form in 2019/20.
However, just seven minutes in, Rangers took the lead as Faysal Bettached struck home from just inside the penalty area to open the scoring.
Tyler Burey attempted to get Millwall back into the game, with the latter bursting down the left-hand side and forcing a save from QPR goalkeeper Martin Brzozowski, before Isaac Olaofe then pounced on some slack defending, but slipped at the vital moment.
On the stroke of half-time, The R's had a chance to double their lead from the penalty spot after Skalak brought down Olamide Shodippo - Lewis Walker stepped up and confidently dispatched his kick past Steele to make it 2-0.
Bettached and Olaofe traded efforts at either end in the second-half, with Reuben Duncan also taking advantage of a poor clearance by Brzozowski, but he could not find the net with a lob from around 30 yards out.
McCarthy's sublime cross was the met by the head of George Alexander but saved by the stopper, before a close range finish in second-half stoppage-time meant a third for Rangers and all three points.
Next up for Nugent's side is another London derby with Charlton Athletic at Calmont Road next Monday afternoon.
