Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce that Ben Thompson has put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract at The Den.
The 23-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 106 appearances for The Lions since making his debut in a League Cup tie against Southampton in August 2014, will now look to cement his place in Neil Harris' starting XI during the course of the 2019/20 campaign and beyond.
Boyhood Lions fan Thompson started to make his mark in the team in the 2015/16 season, making 36 appearances and scoring two goals - one a Goal of the Season winner at home to Shrewsbury Town.
The Lions went one better the following year, and so did the combative midfielder, playing 47 times as Millwall won the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs with a 1-0 victory over Bradford City at Wembley Stadium.
The Championship initially proved to be a step too far for Millwall's number eight, with just three appearances made as the club defied expectations to finish just outside the Play-Off places, but Thompson did have joy elsewhere, however, scoring twice in three Emirates FA Cup appearances.
Thompson enjoyed a loan spell at promotion-chasing Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth in the first part of last season, and returned to SE16 to carry on his form, finding the net four times in 13 matches.
