The Opposition: Concord Rangers

A look at our first opponents of pre-season

5 July 2019

After a summer of over two months without action on the pitch for Millwall, The Lions are back out on the grass this Saturday to take on Essex outfit Concord Rangers (kick-off 1pm).

Neil Harris’ side visit the Aspect Arena with new signings Alex Pearce, Frank Fielding and Matt Smith in contention to feature, alongside several other members of the first-team squad.

Concord – based in the Canvey Island area of Essex – compete in the National League South, the sixth tier of the English pyramid, and will be taken over in the dugout by Danny Scopes for the 2019/20 season.

The Beach Boys initially secured a Play-Off place last campaign having finished sixth in the division, though were unable to compete for a chance at promotion due to not meeting ground regulations.

Playing primarily in yellow, Concord reached both the First Round of the FA Cup and the Second Round of the FA Trophy in the 2014/15 season, and reached the last eight of the FA Vase in 2007/08. The club won the Isthmian League Play-Offs in 2013.
