Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce the loan capture of Republic of Ireland U21 captain Jayson Molumby for the duration of the 2019/20 season.
The 19-year-old midfielder becomes Neil Harris’ sixth summer signing, and will spend a year on loan at The Den from Brighton & Hove Albion.
A central midfield player by trade, Molumby made his Irish Under 21 debut this year – for whom he is now skipper – having scored five times in 12 caps for the Irish U19 side.
Molumby played youth football in Ireland until 2015, when he made the move to Brighton and signed professional terms for the 2017/18 season – joining up with a squad including Jiri Skalak.
He would make his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against Barnet in August of that campaign, also featuring in the previous campaign for the U21 side in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Described as equally comfortable both attacking and defending in the middle of the park, teenager Molumby goes straight into a squad alongside fellow central players Shaun Williams, Ben Thompson and Ryan Leonard.
