Millwall Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Derby County defender Alex Pearce on a loan deal until the end of the 2018/19 season.
The central defender has put pen-to-paper at The Den having been with The Rams since 2015, making 48 Sky Bet Championship appearances.
A tall, strong and composed player at the back, 30-year-old Pearce began his career with Reading, making his senior debut in 2007 and going on to register over 200 League appearances at the Madejski Stadium.
During this time, Pearce won promotion to the Premier League in 2012 – picking up the club’s Player of the Season award in the process – and represented The Royals in the top flight the following season.
He also made his international bow in the same year for the Republic of Ireland – for whom he has since gone on to earn nine caps, scoring two goals.
Pearce’s move to Pride Park followed, spending a brief spell on loan with Bristol City on 2016.
The defender becomes Neil Harris’ first capture of the January transfer window, and will wear the number 15 shirt during his time at The Den.
Alex is eligible - subject to FA clearance - for The Lions’ Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Hull City this Sunday.
