Following the news that Millwall will be recalling the club’s loan players this month, here we take a look at how our lads fared at their temporary clubs over the Christmas and New Year period.
Ben Thompson – Portsmouth
Ben Thompson started all four games for Portsmouth over the festive period, with Kenny Jackett’s side claiming three wins to remain at the summit of Sky Bet League One. Ben hit two goals across the Christmas programme, in a crucial victory over Sunderland and a scorcher in Pompey’s 5-2 rout at Fleetwood Town.
Fred Onyedinma – Wycombe Wanderers
Fred Onyedinma also made himself a mainstay for Wycombe Wanderers, starting all four of the side’s fixtures over Christmas. Unfortunately for Gareth Ainsworth’s men, The Chairboys were unable to register a point, despite a goal for Fred against Tom King’s AFC Wimbledon.
Tom King – AFC Wimbledon
Tom King enjoyed better fortune on a personal note over Christmas, being brought back into the starting line-up by Wally Downes for AFC Wimbledon’s last four League matches. Two victories and a goalless draw represented an encouraging festive spell for The Dons, although a late defeat against Ben Thompson’s Portsmouth on New Year’s Day kept the side bottom of League One.
Sid Nelson – Swindon Town
Sid Nelson also played a full house of games for Swindon Town, keeping two clean sheets with the side 14th in Sky Bet League Two. Three draws maintained an unbeaten Christmas, before the side were beaten by promotion-chasing Exeter City.
