A brief history of Lions v Toffees...

25 January 2019

Millwall take on Everton in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round at The Den, LIVE on BBC, on Saturday evening (kick-off 5.30pm) - and it will be just the 13th time the two clubs will meet.

However, the previous 12 games have produced some classic memories.

In 1903, The Lions advanced to the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup by defeating Everton 1-0, before Harry Cripps and Alf Wood found the net on a famous occasion at Goodison Park in January 1973.

In September 1988, Millwall's fourth game in the top tier of English football saw Tony Cascarino score twice as The Lions remained unbeaten at the expense of Everton, whilst, after a goalless draw at The Den in the First Leg, Scott Taylor (2), David Savage and Alex Rae (pen) were on target as a famous night against The Toffees was completed in the Coca-Cola Cup in October 1995.

The last meeting between the two sides came in the FA Cup in January 2006 - Marvin Williams and Leon Osman found the net in a 1-1 draw at The Den, before none other than Tim Cahill scored the winning goal in a Goodison replay.
