Preview | West Bromwich Albion v Millwall

Lions head to The Hawthorns

9 August 2019

Millwall's 2019/20 away Sky Bet Championship campaign gets underway on Saturday afternoon as The Lions travel to West Bromwich Albion (kick-off 3pm).

Following last Saturday's opening day 1-0 victory over Preston North End, Neil Harris' side make the first of two journeys to The Hawthorns, with Tuesday night's Carabao Cup First Round tie on the horizon following the weekend's encounter.

The boss has positive selection headaches ahead of the trip - he could stick with the same XI from the success over The Lilywhites - Bartosz Bialkowski replacing the injured Frank Fielding aside - but if Harris opts for change, then names such as Shane Ferguson, Shaun Hutchinson, Jason McCarthy, Ryan Leonard, Jiri Skalak, Tom Bradshaw and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson are waiting in the wings, alongside new recruit Luke Steele.

For those travelling - approximately 1,500 Lions fans are expected to descend on West Bromwich - The Baggies have issued the following advice:

  • The away entrance leading to the ground - the Middlemore Road ramp - is monitored by CCTV. There have been issues where opposition fans have been seen urinating on this ramp area, and stewards have taken a dim view and refused entry. Supporters should seek to use toilet facilities prior to leaving any refreshment locations.
  • West Bromwich Albion will be serving alcohol to away fans, however, all drinks will be decanted.

If you are unable to attend, then full match commentary will be available on iFollow Millwall, with coverage starting at around 2.50pm. International subscribers can watch all the action on The Hawthorns on iFollow - and those yet to do so can make savings on an International iFollow Early Bird Season Video Pass!

On the squad front, Jake Cooper has been speaking to millwallfc.co.uk in the build-up to the game, whilst you can read from manager Harris here.
