Millwall to mark Remembrance Day at Saturday’s game

Details of our ceremony this weekend as Millwall remembers

25 October 2018

Millwall's annual Remembrance Day fixture takes place here at The Den on Saturday afternoon as The Lions face Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship (3pm).

The club is welcoming army personnel as special guests this weekend, with soldiers pitchside ahead of kick-off against The Tractor Boys.

The pre-match ceremony will begin as the referee carries the matchball out on to the pitch, followed by two personnel, each carrying a wreath – one from the club and one from Millwall Supporters' Club – and a bugler.

Soldiers will welcome the teams and officials on to the pitch, before the bugler plays the Last Post. This will be followed by a minute's silence to remember the fallen. The period of silence will be ended by the Reveille, then the referee's whistle.

Both wreaths will then be laid behind the goal at the Cold Blow Lane end in the final act of remembrance before the action gets underway.

You can also play a further part – bucket collections for the British Legion Poppy Appeal will be held around the ground before kick-off, so dig deep!
