As we enter the October international break, the Millwall squad will briefly be without a quintet of teammates on the training pitch as they meet up with their national sides. The five players will be representing three different nations across the world – here we preview our Lions involved in international action…
Shane Ferguson, Conor McLaughlin – Northern Ireland
Shane Ferguson and Conor McLaughlin have been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for two away matches in the UEFA Nations League – in Austria on Friday, and facing Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday. Michael O’Neill’s side turned out against Bosnia in the previous break last month, losing 2-1 at Windsor Park.
Shaun Williams, Aiden O’Brien – Republic of Ireland
On the back of a fantastic break last month for our Irish Lions, the Republic of Ireland’s last two goalscorers Shaun Williams and Aiden O’Brien are back in the green shirt for Nations League clashes against Denmark (Saturday) and Wales (Tuesday). Both matches will be played at the Aviva Stadium as Martin O’Neill’s team look to register their first points in Group Four.
Mahlon Romeo – Antigua & Barbuda
Mahlon Romeo will again be representing Antigua & Barbuda in the nation’s CONCACAF Nations League Qualifiers, with a solitary match during this break away at The Bahamas on Friday night. The Caribbean nation began their qualifying campaign with a defeat to St. Lucia last month.
Keep up to date with our international Lions’ progress with their respective nations with next week’s International Round-Up.
