Ben Amos has praised the preparation of the Millwall squad over the international break as the squad look ahead to Saturday’s trip to Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.
The goalkeeper says determining whether the break came at the right time depends entirely on the result at the Madejski Stadium as the first of a trilogy of League matches in a week.
“The preparation has been good,” Amos claims.
“We haven’t had the whole squad here to work on everything, but the lads who have been here have had some great sessions as well as a couple of days’ rest to recharge.
“I don’t really look at whether the international break is an advantage or a disadvantage. That will depend on the result on Saturday – it will have been good if we win.”
Paul Clement’s Royals sit just below The Lions in the division and Amos says it is vital to take points from rivals in the table, even at this stage of the campaign.
“You have to pick up points from the teams around you. We’ll certainly be looking to get something from Reading at the weekend, and if we can get that first win away from home, then that would give us a real boost going into plenty of games coming up.
“The team last year were able to do that very well – it would be great to get that kind of momentum going again.
“There’s no reason why we can’t get a string of wins together now.”
The on-loan stopper finally assesses his own form, claiming he feels he is progressing well.
“I feel good – usually it takes a goalkeeper a few games to get into a rhythm, but I feel like I’m improving every day.
“I just want to be as good as I can be, help out the lads in front of me, and kick on this season.”
