Loan Watch: Thompson opens Pompey account as three loanees secure FA Cup victories

Find out the latest from our lads out on loan

12 November 2018

Throughout 2018/19, millwallfc.co.uk will keep up with the news of our players out on loan deals. Here we have the latest on the five Lions currently with their respective temporary clubs...

Ben Thompson - Portsmouth

Ben Thompson played 90 minutes and registered his first goal for Portsmouth during Saturday’s early kick-off as the Sky Bet League One leaders eased through to the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup against Maidenhead United. Ben’s neat finish gave Pompey a half-time lead, before a second-half onslaught saw Kenny Jackett’s side run out 4-0 winners at York Road.

Fred Onyedinma - Wycombe Wanderers

Fred Onyedinma also played the whole game as Wycombe Wanderers began their FA Cup journey, but it was put to an early end by Luton Town who secured a 2-0 win over Gareth Ainsworth’s team at Kenilworth Road. Goals either side of half-time for The Hatters sealed their passage to Round Two.

Sid Nelson - Swindon Town

Sid Nelson featured for the whole game for Swindon Town on Saturday as The Robins entered the Second Round draw, beating York City 2-1 at the County Ground. Steven Alzate’s winner spared the hosts a replay in a dominant display over the non-league visitors.

Tom King - AFC Wimbledon

Tom King was on the substitutes’ bench for AFC Wimbledon on Friday night as The Dons narrowly avoided a Cup upset, with a last-minute winner seeing off non-league Haringey Borough. With 89 League places separating the sides, Wimbledon grabbed the all-important winner through Mitchell Pinnock to see themselves into the hat for Round Two.

Harry Donovan - Dagenham & Redbridge

Harry Donovan’s Dagenham & Redbridge were not in action this weekend due to the FA Cup First Round ties being played, but continue their Vanarama National League campaign when they host AFC Fylde next Saturday. Harry did however feature for Kevin Nugent’s Lions U23 side last week, playing the full game as Crystal Palace won 2-0 at Copers Cope in the Professional Development League.
