Millwall's matchday receptionist Karen Powell is undertaking a charity walk to the 12 professional football grounds in London on 23rd/24th March 2018.
The walk - over 50 miles (more than two marathons in two days) - will begin at Barnet's The Hive on Friday morning and will finish at The Den on Saturday evening. Sophie's twin sister, Emma, will also be taking part in the challenge.
The walk is in loving memory of Karen's daughter, Sophie Powell. Sophie battled cancer for almost two years and despite a very tough treatment regime which included surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she sadly passed away in January 2017, aged just 11.
Sophie had her life mapped out and part of that was raising money to support poorly children like her, something she was always very passionate about. Sophie never asked for anything for herself, she just wanted to help others.
The four chosen charities (CCT Tiger Ward Limited, Rays of Sunshine, Demelza Hospice Care for Children and CLIC Sargent), who support children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, were close to Sophie's heart and also supported the family.
A kind, loving and caring girl, Karen's wish is to fulfil Sophie's dream of buying a holiday home on the Isle of Wight for use by children suffering and battling cancer.
Karen and her family are grateful for any donation towards this cause, which will give other children like Sophie an enjoyable and memorable experience.
