Millwall's Under 23s battled to a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at The Den in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon.
Mason Saunders-Henry gave The Lions an early lead, but Forest turned the game on its head through strikes from Toby Edser and Aaron Smith.
Noel Leighton, however, stepped off the bench to level the scores late on, before missing a penalty-kick that would have given Millwall all three points.
Aiden O'Brien started as he stepped up his recovery from an ankle injury sustained in January's 4-3 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road.
Just six minutes in, Millwall took the lead. O'Brien pounced on a mistake by Forest goalkeeper Liam Bossin and squared to Saunders-Henry, who tapped home.
A quiet half with little in the way of chances followed, but Forest rallied before the half-time break - Edser ballooned the visitors' first effort of the game over the crossbar, before Smith struck the base of the post with a free-kick and Ryan Sandford saved from Jayden Richardson.
The Tricky Trees did find the leveller, though, as some smart play allowed Edser to drive home under the goalkeeper.
Smith nudged Forest in front with a smart finish from the edge of the six-yard box in the second-half, before Leighton fired home from the edge of the penalty-area just over 10 minutes from time to secure a share of the spoils.
Leighton had the chance to win the match late on from the penalty spot, but his kick was well saved by Bossin.
