Jed Wallace's thumping effort settled Jimmy Abdou's testimonial at The Den on Saturday afternoon as Millwall defeated VfL Bochum 1-0.
Lions boss Neil Harris opted to field a strong side, with Jordan Archer taking his place in goal, behind a spine including Shaun Hutchinson, Shaun Williams and Steve Morison.
Abdou took his place alongside Williams in the midfield.
The Lions could've taken the lead inside the first five minutes through - yes, you guessed it - Abdou, but the midfielder's header from Jed Wallace's corner-kick was put over the crossbar.
The man of the moment received a standing ovation as he was replaced by George Saville early into the contest, whilst Millwall's next chance came on the half-hour mark as Aiden O'Brien spun an effort off the bar, before mis-kicking his follow up with just goalkeeper Felix Dornebusch to beat.
James Meredith and O'Brien combined 10 minutes from the half-time break, but the latter's shot was firmly stopped by Dornebusch. Tom Weilandt blazed Bochum's first chance of the afternoon over the crossbar shortly after.
The Lions took the lead on 41 minutes. Wallace and Morison played a one-two on the edge of the penalty area before the former thumped a strike into the roof of the net for his fourth goal of pre-season.
The first chance of the second half went the way of the Germans, but Sebastian Maier struck wide. Attempts on goal were few and far between, but Onyedinma did head wide of the post on 65 minutes.
Just under 20 minutes from time Bochum were presented with their best chance of the game, but substitute goalkeeper Ben Amos stood tall to deny Lukas Hinterseer.
On 74 minutes Wallace was in the clear following a through-ball by O'Brien, but the winger found a strong save from Dornebusch as he looked to double his tally.
Substitute Shane Ferguson curled a free-kick into the arms of the stopper in the last real action of the game.
