Lions captain Steve Morison shared a dressing room with Jimmy in both of his spells at The Den, and describes his former teammate as a player that 'you always wanted in your team.'
The striker’s debut against Southampton in 2009 was memorable for assisting Jimmy’s equaliser for Millwall, and from then on Morison knew he was working with a reliable player.
“We were losing 1-0, and I managed to get onto a header at the back post, nodding it back across goal. At the other side was Jimmy with a big header and the equaliser.
“He was a great servant. He was one of those players you always wanted in your team. You didn’t want to play against him – he was fantastic.
“It’s about hard work and it’s about understanding your roots. Jimmy epitomised that. That’s why the fans loved him.”
Steve Morison's full tribute to Jimmy will be available in tomorrow's matchday programme.
