Legendary Lions striker Gary Alexander played alongside Jimmy for two seasons at The Den under Kenny Jackett, and credits how popular he was with teammates and supporters alike.
“Jimmy was a bit of an unknown quantity when he arrived from Plymouth,” Alexander says.
“He became one of the boys and settled into the group quickly. He was a great lad and the work he did on the pitch was phenomenal.”
Alexander’s outstanding moment with Jimmy came in the 2009 League One Play-Off Semi-Final at Elland Road against Leeds United, with the midfield man notching the all-important second-leg decider to march on to Wembley.
“That night will live long in the memory of our achievements at Millwall and I’m sure it will also live long in the memory of the fans.”
Gary Alexander's full tribute to Jimmy will be available in Saturday's matchday programme.
