Loan Watch: Thompson’s Pompey maintain unbeaten away record

Throughout 2018/19, will keep up with the news of our players out on loan deals. Here we have the latest on the five Lions currently with their respective temporary clubs...

Ben Thompson – Portsmouth

Ben Thompson endured an eventful week for Portsmouth as Kenny Jackett’s side faced tough Sky Bet League One fixtures against Charlton Athletic and Barnsley. Ben started both matches, but was harshly sent off in the late stages of Pompey’s 2-1 home defeat to The Addicks. Having seen a subsequent appeal quickly come back successful, Ben continued in Jackett’s starting XI as they secured a 1-1 draw at Oakwell on Saturday and remained top of the table.

Fred Onyedinma – Wycombe Wanderers

Fred Onyedinma again played the full 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers as the side played out a 2-2 draw at Gillingham on Saturday. The Chairboys took an early 2-0 lead at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, but with the point still sit ninth in the League One table.

Tom King – AFC Wimbledon

Tom King was on the substitutes’ bench for AFC Wimbledon as The Dons lost out 2-0 at Charlton Athletic on Saturday. The side sit bottom of League One going into a crucial Christmas period.

Sid Nelson – Swindon Town

Sid Nelson played the whole game for Swindon Town as The Robins were edged out 2-1 by Grimsby Town at Blundell Park. Sid has however become a key part of Richie Wellens’ back line, with Swindon sitting 13th in Sky Bet League Two.

Dan McNamara – Welling United

Dan McNamara’s Welling United remained fourth in the Vanarama National League South after a 2-1 defeat to Hampton & Richmond Borough at the Beveree Stadium on Saturday. Dan played the full 90 minutes, and is now due to return to Millwall following his temporary spell with The Wings.
