Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce that Jake Cooper has put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract at The Den.
Cooper has agreed to extend his stay with Neil Harris’ side following a 2018/19 campaign so far in which he has been ever-present in the Sky Bet Championship, playing every minute of the League season to date, claiming a remarkable three goals and six assists.
The defender initially arrived at The Den on loan in January 2017 from Reading, where he had graduated from The Royals’ academy. After featuring regularly in a successful campaign as The Lions sealed their Championship return via the Play-Offs, Harris secured the services of Cooper on a permanent deal.
Cooper was a mainstay in the Millwall back line last season, scooping the club’s Young Player of the Year award after playing 38 times in the League as the team embarked on a 17-match unbeaten run – securing an eighth-place finish in their first term back in the second tier.
The 23-year-old has also represented England at youth level, turning out for The Three Lions’ U18, U19 and U20 sides.
