Under 23s defeat Leeds at The Den

Professional Development League report...

9 April 2018

Isaac Olaofe and Mason Saunders-Henry (pen) were on target as Millwall's Under 23s defeated Leeds United 2-0 at The Den in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon.

Leeds started the brighter, but it was Millwall who had the first real chance of the game on 10 minutes as Noel Leighton headed Mason Saunders-Henry's cross over the bar. Olaofe met Harry Toffolo's cross minutes later, but he found the arms of Leeds stopper Kamil Miazek.

With 19 minutes on the clock, The Lions took the lead. Olaofe burst through the visiting defence with pace and slotted underneath Miazek to open the scoring.

Just three minutes after, Bryce Hosannah whipped in a cross from the right-hand side that looked destined for the back of the net, but somehow a combination of bodies steered the ball away from trouble.

Millwall had the ball in the net again on 24 minutes, but Leighton's header took a touch off Saunders-Henry, who was standing in an offside position.

David Ajiboye's burst into the box was halted illegally on 37 minutes, with Saunders-Henry easing the resulting spot-kick into the net to double Millwall's advantage.

Just after the hour-mark, Ajiboye found himself in the clear but with just Miazek to beat blazed his shot well over the crossbar.

Alex Machuca's vicious drive went just over as Leeds looked for a way back into the game, whilst Clarke Oduor forced Ryan Sandford into a smart save from a header on 77 minutes. Ryan Edmondson also brought out the best in Sandford minutes later.

Both sides attempted to find the net late on, but to no avail.
