Millwall's 2016/17 Cup heroics

13 March 2017

A look back at some memorable moments captured on camera

Defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane ended Millwall's Emirates FA Cup dream on Sunday but The Lions can hold their heads high after an unforgettable run to this season's Quarter-Final stage.

It all began with a hard-fought First Round victory over Southend United in November when Mahlon Romeo struck a late winner before non-league outfit Braintree Town were beaten 5-2 in the next stage of the world famous competition.

Then, in the Third Round, came the first of four Premier League clubs The Lions would face. Bournemouth arrived at The Den and - against all the odds - were beaten 3-0, before Watford became Millwall's latest top tier scalp when Steve Morison volleyed home a last-gasp Fourth Round winner.

What followed was perhaps this Cup run's most memorable moment, though, when reigning Premier League champions Leicester City were no match for The Lions in Round Five, going down 1-0 thanks to Shaun Cummings' cool late goal. It was one of The Den's finest occasions.

And though Spurs were ultimately a class apart in Sunday's Quarter-Final, Millwall fans would have enjoyed their trip to White Hart Lane and will be hopeful of more magical memories when their beloved Lions return to FA Cup action next season.

Take a look through our pick of photos from the club's run to the last eight in the gallery above.
